Christine Corbin is a Certified Appraiser of Personal Property through the International Society of Appraisers and is proficient in the area of Antiques and Decorative Arts, and Residential Contents. She has been providing Qualified Appraisals since 1988, and has been certified since 1999. Christine  is on the Board of Trustees of The Appraisal Foundation in Washington, D. C.  The Appraisal Foundation Boards oversee and update the Uniform Standards of Professional Practice (USPAP) to which all appraisals must be written.

She has been on the Board of Directors of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) and completes her second three-year term in November of 2011, was Secretary and Vice President 2007-2009,  and was the ISA delegate to The Appraisal Foundation’s Advisory Council (TAFAC) in Washington, DC 2007 – 2011. Christine is the 2010 - 2011 Vice-chair of the Personal Property Committee and former Chair of Emerging Appraisal Issues of TAFAC as well, working hard to insure public trust in quality personal property appraisals.

Ms. Corbin is also a member of a special appraisal society task force that meets with and advises the IRS on Appraisal Review and USPAP in Fine and Decorative Arts.  Christine is court qualified and testifies frequently in court as an expert witness, works in family distributions and with insurance auditors on opposing sides of the negotiating table, as well as in many other volatile situations. Christine has appraised presidential collections, major art & antique collections for resorts, museums, educational and industrial foundations, handled major insurance damage appraisals and restorations, and had to wear Hazmat suits upon occasion. 

Christine began her auction career in 1988 working as Auction Director at Shields Auctions (for George Shields of Danville - VAA president in 1965). Following the move of Shield’s from Richmond in 1991, Christine spent 17 years at Motleys Auctions, as auction director, estate and benefit auctioneer, ending her career there as senior appraiser. Christine left Motley’s in February of 2008 to pursue other ventures as an Independent Appraiser.

As the owner of Corbin Appraisal Services, Inc. she directs a team of independent appraisers and specialists with proven expertise in professional report writing. She regularly meets with Specialty Auctioneers and Appraisers from across the country as an agent for clients. She believes that it is the client’s bottom line that is most important and word of mouth advertising has been positively reinforced with higher net returns to sellers.

In 2009 Christine was invited to became owner of SOLD, INC. a Fine Estate Sale company which has served Richmond since 1978.  With the retirement of Betsy Beverley and the passing of Minnie Saye, SOLD’s founders, Christine took over the reins and is expanding the business to include Specialty Benefit Auctions, Fine Estate Sales of Antiques and Decorative Arts in Fine Richmond Residences, and Brokerage of Collections.
